I Am

I Am

parachuted corpse floating

on nickles and dimes

no rhyme to my reason

only streets to stop my fall

fat cat raps–my devastation,

Roman tunes playing I

know not what

I Am.

  1. Love that tapdance on the coins, the idea of floating dead in a parachute is grisly yet extremely effective, as is that penultimate line, and the bookended first and last–a rictameter maybe? Anyway, tight and profound short piece, Chris.
