Here’s a few quotes for the would-be writers of the world. The topic this week? Perseverance:
“The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won’t.”
~Henry Ward Beecher
“When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.”
~Franklin D. Roosevelt
“The drops of rain make a hole in the stone not by violence but by oft falling.”
~Lucretius
Fantastic quotes! Sometimes if you want something enough, you can do anything to accomplish your goals. I finally posted another chapter of my novel; it took me so long because I just couldn’t focus with my life spinning all around me. But wanted to finish it, and having the support of others, really helps :]
Glad to hear it, Gally. I look forward to reading it – I’ll take a gander at it tomorrow when I get a free moment. Hope the move went alright!
great quotes, Chris. I thought the FDR was my favorite but I think I like the Lucretius one more. Very wise thoughts. Thanks for sharing.
The Lucretius was a bit of a surprise for me as well. Happened into my questing the other day, and settled pleasantly into my thoughts. FDR…well, perhaps it’s the intensive interest for the era I’ve always held, or simply a great deal of respect for the man, but I’ve always found myself drawn to him as a speaker. A lot of great quotes, a lot of wisdom to be found there.
