Humanity confessed disease.
Sobered, the clay laughed,
and bitterly it asked
if that came with ease –
no solemn song
might ever heed its wrong.

Wonderful verse! Very thought provoking!
Fine work. Thank you!
Lovely and thought provoking in so few words. Succinct yet powerful!
Simple and fully thoughtful.
Short, clear, beautiful!
Sharp, wise stuff. Exemplary, as you often are in your work.
you make me think with this…i like the image of the laughing clay and feel sad for the asking bitterly…good poem chris
There’s an ethical level to this that is quite powerful, as well as fine use of language. Much said with little, something I’m seldom able to do myself and so admire all the more.
Ahhh… even in its brevity, this was a very thought provoking one, Chris..
My fingers remain crossed that we are cured of the disease soon enough…
very nicely done chris…hope you are enjoying yourself post graduation…congrats on that as well…
I think of the human spirit in this piece – kind of a mixed bag an insouciance mixed with the brevity of hardship
Well penned
Thanks Chris for being part of this One Stop thanggg
