Sweet escape
The mind’s surrender
Serenade of oblivion—
I close my eyes
And it goes, goes
The world
Absence of thought
In the darkness of being
Silence
All reconsiderations
This mind is empty now—
And the stars may shine beyond
But this twisted moon is in eclipse
And I am sinking
Down into the blackest hole
Of existence—
You see me, but I
No I do not see you,
I think no more
Therefore
I am
Not.
Beautiful. This made me sleepy and it’s only mid-morning!
Indeed. I just awoke for work…what I wouldn’t give to be back in bed!
Chris G! Keep writing great lines: “All reconsiderations / This mind is empty now— / And the stars may shine beyond” Sounds real good and dig the “poetic Cartesian negation” of sorts at the end.
Aaahh!! Those moments of nothingness! Sometimes I think, how would it be we just ceased to exist everytime we closed our eyes shut (excluding blinking)! Seriously… how WOULD it be?
I have heard this about cats, that when they close their eyes, they believe that no one can see them (opposite to what you said.. and yet.. quite a thought!) 🙂
Loved your intense poem, Chris.. I know I totally went off base with my rantings.. just felt like writing it here.. It’s just that this poem totally got me thinking!
