There comes a time that even stumps get tired
of the rot even time could not wrought
and the silence, dawning to the dusking gasp
just one touch, one hard-backed proof
too far, and yet, the only life
repetition drowns—necessity tragedy cannot realize.
just one touch, one hard back proff…that line makes this poem for me chris…cause even stumps want that….as we all do…
What a beautiful opening line. ‘Even stumps get tired’ – love it!
The serious loneliness of solitude and repetition – honed to its essence here. The words are transcendent and speak beyond their meaning! Fine piece, Chris.
necessity tragedy cannot realize…
sometimes, tragedy happens because you don’t get what’s necessary, but sometimes, you do get it, and it ends up being tragic, so that line is so true.
